Own film brainstorm

Me and Shelby have decided to work together for our final filming task.
We've started thnking about what we want to do and possible ideas. Possible genres we considered were:
  • Horror
  • Romance
  • Chick flick
  • Drama
We created a powerpoint which listed our possible ideas of what we would plan on doing for each of the genres. From discussions with our class we have come to the decission that we will be going with the drama. This will entail a murder mystery story where there is an interview process and flash-backs of the murder scene and the murder happening.

Preliminary task - the finished product

We have now finished editing and the preliminary task is finished! From this task we have learnt alot and now know what to do for our final task.

From this task i've learnt:
  • To use a range of camera shots and appropriate camera shots
  • To have a script for filming
  • How to use the cameras
  • How to use the editing software
  • The difficulty of creating continuity - especially without a script
  • What to expect when filming the final task

Decemeber Research and Planning Mark

Georgia,

Well done! Your blog is looking great! You have analysed some relevant 2 minute openings and have done a mind map. Your blog is presented clearly and your online diary is going well.

Targets:
Planning - questionnaire/shot lists/storyboard/animatic/mood board etc are all tasks you need to start completing over the next month
Research - When analyisng opening 2 minutes - discuss the order of titles and credits etc - when does the directors name come up - over the action or over black screen etc - what have you learned from the opening that you want to use in your work?

Mark:
At the moment we are looking at B grade territory - revisit your old posts and improve (bullet points fine but more detail)

Preliminary task - editing

Today we uploaded our preliminary task and begun to edit it. Last lesson we were joined by some year 13 media studies students who showed us how to use the adobe editing software and gave us some pointers on what to do.
While editing today we used some of the techniques that the year 13's showed us and found them really helpful.
We found it really hard editing scenes together and creating continuity from one shot to the next.
I think the most important thing that we learnt from editing and filming was to have a written script so it makes it easier to edit shots together and makes it clearer. It also just creates order and is easy to pick up a shot from where we left off when you know what your supopse to be saying.

This is what the software look like and you cut shots using the scissor icon.
